A 14-acre waterfront district development shaping the future of Sarasota Bay

The Quay Waterfront District is a transformative 14-acre mixed-use development reshaping Sarasota’s downtown and waterfront. Located at the heart of the city - The Quay, when completed, will bring a blend of residential, dining, retail, and recreational spaces designed to enhance connectivity and urban living. The Quay Waterfront District also seamlessly integrates with The Legacy Trail, an 18.5-mile from from the Historic Venice Train Depot to Fruitville Road in Sarasota, which opened to the public on March 28, 2008.

At the center of the district is Central Quay Park, a one-acre green space that serves as a community gathering spot. Designed to encourage outdoor activity and engagement, the park also includes public art installations and links to other parts of the development, making it a central feature of the area’s layout.

For renters, Cordelia Apartments, which began leasing in November 2024, offers 240 units, along with ground-floor retail and dining spaces.

The dining scene at The Quay is anchored by the recent opening of Ocean Prime, a seafood and steakhouse located at 501 Quay Commons. Opening its doors on December 21, 2024, Ocean Prime is set to be a key culinary destination in Sarasota, offering an inviting atmosphere and prime waterfront views. The district also features 189,050 square feet of commercial space, which includes retail outlets and office facilities designed to support local businesses and enhance economic activity.

The Quay’s design prioritizes sustainability and accessibility, with pedestrian-friendly layouts and a connection to the city’s broader trail network. The Multi-Use Recreational Trail (MURT), an extension of The Legacy Trail, runs through the district, encouraging alternative modes of transportation and providing a direct link between the city and its waterfront.
