Aba, the beloved Mediterranean restaurant with California roots, is making its way to Nashville. Slated to open in the summer of 2025 at 435 Houston Street in the heart of Wedgewood-Houston, this marks the third location for the concept, following acclaimed openings in Chicago and Austin.
The name Aba—meaning “father” in Hebrew—speaks to the warm, inviting energy that defines the restaurant experience. At the helm is Chef CJ Jacobson, a Top Chef alum and Orange County native whose approach to Mediterranean cooking is shaped by his California upbringing, love of foraging, and global culinary experiences. His menu is a vibrant expression of the region, featuring light, flavorful dishes crafted with hyper-seasonal ingredients and a modern sensibility.

Guests can expect signature items like Smoky Garlic Hummus, Whipped Feta Spread, Shawarma-Spiced Skirt Steak, and the uniquely indulgent Frozen Greek Yogurt topped with olive oil and sea salt. These dishes are complemented by a beverage program that highlights rare wines and spirits from under-the-radar Mediterranean producers, offering something distinctive for both casual diners and connoisseurs.
Jacobson’s culinary journey began after a professional volleyball career led him to explore food while traveling abroad. He later trained at the Le Cordon Bleu-affiliated College of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, and has since cooked alongside renowned chefs in kitchens across California and Chicago. Today, he serves as Chef Partner for Aba and Ema—both part of the Lettuce Entertain You restaurant group—where his passion for seasonal, vegetable-forward cuisine continues to shine.

Beyond the food and drink, Aba is known for its stunning design inspired by summers along the Mediterranean coast. The Nashville outpost will feature lush greenery, climbing ivy, Moroccan-style lanterns, olive trees, and a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces. With an expansive patio, indoor and outdoor bars, and seating for over 250 guests, including private and semi-private dining rooms, Aba is poised to be a go-to destination for everything from weeknight dinners to special celebrations.
With its blend of bold flavors, coastal elegance, and chef-driven storytelling, Aba’s arrival in Wedgewood-Houston adds an exciting new chapter to Nashville’s ever-evolving culinary landscape.
