A Miami-based partnership proposes redeveloping the Whale & Star building in Wynwood into an eight-story mixed-use complex featuring hotel rooms and condominiums.

The redevelopment includes 246,307 square feet of space, encompassing 214 hotel rooms, 87 condo units, and 11,350 square feet for commercial use, and 87 parking spaces. The hotel component is managed and branded by Cloud One Hotels. The upper floors, six through eight, will house condominiums, offering options from studios starting at 406 square feet to 1,592-square-foot loft-style units featuring up to three bedrooms and mezzanine decks.

The architectural vision for the project is being shaped by Hollywood-based O’Donnell Dannwolf and Partners Architects Inc., in collaboration with design consultant HWKN Architecture. The design incorporates 8,935 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, complemented by a rooftop restaurant and bar that also features a pool and gym. Residents of the condominiums will enjoy access to the hotel's services and amenities, further blurring the lines between residential and hospitality experiences.

Additionally, Goldman Global Arts, recognized for their work on Wynwood Walls, has been enlisted to curate the artwork and murals throughout the development.
