West Palm Beach has approved technical rule changes, allowing for a pair of office towers to replace The Square's AMC West Palm Beach movie theater.
The Square, in collaboration with Related, requested changes to the Development of Regional Impact (DRI) rules to permit more square footage for facilities in the area. City officials clarified that the decision regarding the movie theater's future lies with Related, not the city. Detailed plans for the redevelopment are expected to be presented to the city in June, with further discussions during a site plan review near the end of the year.
