MIRAI Design District, Kengo Kuma and Associates’ first U.S. mixed-use project is coming to Miami

In the heart of Miami's coveted Design District, a new landmark is set to rise: MIRAI, a vibrant, bold, and sensorial mixed-use development by the world-renowned Kengo Kuma and Associates. This project, the first of its kind in the United States by the esteemed Japanese architect, will redefine the district's landscape with curated boutique spaces, bridging the existing commercial and residential areas with ultra-luxury retail, captivating architecture, art galleries, and Michelin-starred restaurants.

MIRAI, Japanese for 'the distant future,' embodies the project's innovative spirit, will seamlessly blend tech-savvy and sustainable features with elements of nature.


This bustling extension of Miami's celebrated global arts scene is a 65,000 square foot development, housing 17 ground-floor retail units and commercial office spaces above. Each space is nestled within curated modular bays.

Kengo Kuma's vision for MIRAI intertwines cultural influences, architecture, and nature. Greenscapes, envisioned by Island Planning Corporation, form a living rooftop and pedestrian passages. The vibrant lifestyle hub also boasts high-tech lobbies and a living green roof equipped with solar panels.


With groundbreaking slated for Summer 2024 and completion targeted for the end of 2025, MIRAI is poised to become a new landmark in Miami's Design District, a testament to the harmonious blend of Japanese traditions and the vibrant spirit of Miami.
