New private golf club and luxury resort is opening in West Palm Beach this fall

In a significant development for West Palm Beach's luxury hospitality scene, the former Banyan Cay Resort has unveiled its transformation into The Belgrove, a prestigious addition to the Marriott Autograph Hotel collection. This 194-room haven will be the second Marriott Autograph-branded property in the city, joining the esteemed ranks of The Ben.

The Belgrove boasts a prime location adjacent to the revitalized Dutchman's Pipe Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus masterpiece set to reopen this fall with an exclusive membership initiation fee of $300,000.

The property's journey to its current incarnation involved a transaction earlier this year, where an affiliate of Calmwater Capital passed the baton to Witkoff Group and Access Industries. This dynamic team also reins South Florida's latest luxury golf haven, the Shell Bay Club in Hallandale Beach, renowned for its $1 million membership exclusivity.

When the hotel and club both open later this year, they will have three dining venues offering “world-class” fare, including a members-only grill and poolside al fresco dining led by Chef Julian Jouhannaud.

Hotel guests also can use the Dutchman's Pipe golf course and facilities while staying at The Belgrove, Sonnenborn said. And although The Belgrove isn't on the beach, transportation will be available from the hotel.

Dutchman’s Pipe Golf Club, a multi-million-dollar renovation and complete overhaul of a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, will open for play in fall 2024. The course will be accompanied by nationally ranked instructors and elevated practice facilities, including a driving range exceeding 300 yards and two acres of dedicated short game area. With its debut, Dutchman’s Pipe aims to redefine the existing golf landscape in Palm Beach.

Led by the esteemed golf course architects at Nicklaus Design, the golf course renovations will enhance playability, aesthetics, and sustainability for golf enthusiasts of all levels.

“Dutchman’s Pipe will be the first new private golf club to open in West Palm Beach in 25 years,” says Alex Witkoff, Co-CEO of Witkoff Group. “Land in this area is extremely scarce, rendering new golf clubs within 5 miles of Palm Beach Island exceedingly rare. The opportunity to control 220 acres in the heart of West Palm Beach is generational and will allow us to deliver a transformative golf club experience."

Measuring an impressive 7,300 yards, Dutchman's Pipe promises to challenge even the world's best golfers while ensuring playability for all levels. This ambitious project underscores the dedication of Witkoff Group to delivering unparalleled golf and lifestyle experiences.

The comprehensive overhaul encompasses every facet of the course, from its layout and design to infrastructure and amenities. The course will undergo significant restructuring, incorporating all-new fairways, revamped bunkers, and strategic green complexes to optimize the routing’s flow and bring visual allure to every shot.

Strategic landscaping efforts, including the introduction of native vegetation such as the Dutchman’s Pipe flower, will not only enhance the course's beauty but also bolster erosion control and biodiversity, creating a serene enclave for members. Existing water features will be seamlessly integrated into the redesign, with measures taken to preserve the integrity of the property’s lake banks, adding both aesthetic charm and strategic intrigue to the course.
