New York-based developer proposes The Amalfi, a 20-story condominium just two blocks away from the beach in Fort Lauderdale

A New York-based developer, Moore Group Corp., has unveiled plans for a 20-story luxury condominium named Amalfi, situated just two blocks from the beach in Fort Lauderdale. The proposed development, located at 2317-2237 N. Ocean Blvd., will replace several small apartment complexes currently on the 0.84-acre site. The Fort Lauderdale Development Review Committee is scheduled to review the project on May 28. The developer, which assembled the five lots for a combined $5.54 million in 2021 and 2022, aims to cater to the growing demand for upscale residences in the area.

New York-based developer proposes The Amalfi, a 20-story condominium just two blocks away from the beach in Fort Lauderdale

Designed by the renowned Miami-based Kobi Karp Architecture, the Amalfi will encompass 248,575 square feet of space, featuring 38 spacious condominium units. These units will range from 2,632 to 3,762 square feet, plus balconies, offering ample living space. The two top-floor units will each boast a private rooftop terrace and pool, providing exclusive luxury for their residents. The building will also include 115 parking spaces within a subterranean automated parking system, maintaining a sleek and modern streetscape.

The Amalfi's design highlights include a second-floor amenity deck, equipped with a pool, gym, lounge with a catering kitchen, golf simulator, sauna, yoga room, and dog wash, ensuring residents have access to a range of leisure and wellness facilities. The building will feature a one-story podium with coralline stone and perforated metal mesh screening the parking garage, glass railings on balconies, and expansive white glazing systems on the ground floor. Residential windows will feature frosted glass, and the tower's concrete shell will be clad in white GFRC panels.

The developer is seeking a conditional use permit to increase the building's height to 236.5 feet and a waiver to reduce the street setback, allowing for a more striking architectural presence. Renderings depict a structure with a bold profile and cantilevered balconies, creating a dynamic silhouette. The design consists of irregularly stacked layers, with floor plates shifting to create a wave-like rhythm along the centrally located window walls.

The Amalfi aims to leverage its prime location between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, offering residents scenic vistas and easy access to the beach and other local amenities.

As luxury condo development continues to rise in Fort Lauderdale, projects like the Amalfi are set to meet the demands of affluent buyers seeking high-end living spaces in the city.
