The Brooklyn Mirage unveils transformation, plans spring open

Celebrating a decade of defining New York City nightlife and earning international acclaim, The Brooklyn Mirage, the iconic open-air venue in the heart of Avant Gardner complex, is set to reopen on May 1 following a spectacular transformation. This extensive renovation by Avant Gardner's in-house design and production team, along with Hard Feelings and Studio Greenbank, reimagines the venue as an immersive environment inspired by operatic grandeur, setting a new standard for live music, art, and nightlife experiences.

At the center of the upgrade is Mirage 4.0, the world's first fully kinetic floor-to-ceiling shutter system of this scale within a live music venue. This innovative system creates a 270-degree virtual environment with LED screens boasting a combined 30K resolution and 100 million pixels. With shutters closed, the venue provides an intimate theater-like atmosphere, yet at the touch of a button, it transforms into an open canvas allowing artists to craft custom visual experiences.

Complementing these visual innovations is a state-of-the-art L-Acoustics sound system featuring over 100 precision-calibrated speakers and subwoofers strategically placed for perfect sound balance throughout the space. Framed by a monumental timber structure standing 65 feet tall and spanning 197 by 164 feet, The Brooklyn Mirage is among the largest sustainable event venues in the United States, offering a distinctive alternative to traditional aluminum and steel structures. The timber structure was pre-manufactured and CNC-cut utilizing advanced prefabrication techniques.

Guests will enjoy upgraded hospitality experiences from the newly installed opera-style balconies above the expanded 90-foot-wide dance floor. These premium and VIP spaces offer exceptional views, audio immersion, and enhanced amenities, all designed without obstructing sight lines.

Further improvements include enhanced guest safety measures such as new lighting, clear signage, designated rideshare drop-off zones, and expanded security and emergency response teams. The upcoming season, running from May through November, already has over 100 shows confirmed, featuring renowned international and local artists such as Sara Landry, Alesso, The Martinez Brothers, Peggy Gou, Cloonee, and Anjunadeep, with more acts to be announced shortly.

Josh Wyatt, CEO of Avant Gardner, highlighted the significance of this transformation: "The Brooklyn Mirage has always been a place to dance, to lose oneself in moments of pure, electrifying energy. It’s a space where people, community, and culture converge to create unforgettable memories. When we decided to rebuild the venue from the ground up, we aimed to honor its legacy while expanding the dance floor, creating immersive side-quest spaces, and pushing the boundaries of music, art, and technology. This is not just an upgrade—it’s a rebirth. The new Mirage will deliver a completely new, mind-blowing sensory experience. New York City deserves a venue that evolves with the culture, and that’s exactly what we’re creating."
