The Tri-Rail Downtown Miami Link, a project that will allow Palm Beach County commuters to travel to downtown Miami without switching trains, is nearing completion.
Over $70 million has been invested in establishing the link, which includes 26 Tri-Rail trains and nine miles of new rail infrastructure. Testing has recently been conducted on the Florida East Coast Railroad tracks, which will be shared by Tri-Rail and Brightline trains. The service is expected to begin next year, offering commuters a more convenient and affordable transportation option, potentially saving up to 45 minutes of travel time. Tri-Rail's lower ticket prices compared to Brightline make it an attractive choice for lower- and middle-income working people. The project is seen as a game changer that will alleviate highway congestion and provide greater connectivity in South Florida's rail network.
