Ytech breaks ground The Residences at 1428, the world's first solar-powered high-rise residential tower

Miami-based real estate firm Ytech just celebrated their official groundbreaking today, November 13, 2024, commencing construction on The Residences at 1428 Brickell. This 70-story marvel is set to become an iconic feature of Miami’s skyline, with 195 exclusive residences designed to offer a blend of luxury and sustainability. A world-first in residential architecture, this high-rise will integrate photovoltaic glazing into its western façade, using the power of the sun to reduce environmental impact while maintaining an exceptional level of craftsmanship and innovation.

“Breaking ground at The Residences at 1428 Brickell brings us one step closer to realizing a vision of luxury combined with meaningful sustainability,” said Yamal Yidios, CEO of Ytech.

“This project is a testament to our commitment to excellence in design, quality, and forward-thinking technology. We thank our broker community and international buyers for their trust in us to bring this vision to life.”

The building’s revolutionary “Solar Backbone” comprises 500 solar-integrated windows across the west-facing façade, collectively producing up to 175,000 kWh of clean energy annually—enough to reduce the carbon footprint by approximately 4,700 tons of CO₂, equivalent to saving 3,000 barrels of oil.

Since the solar cells are seamlessly integrated within the glass, their effective lifespan matches that of the windows themselves, contributing to a sustainable future while enhancing the building’s architectural beauty.

The luxury residences span from 1,800 to 4,000 square feet, priced between $3 million and $7 million. The building’s design includes flow-through floor plans and numerous two-story residences that evoke a single-family home feel. The penthouse, a $60 million masterpiece with 30-foot ceilings, features 7 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, and sweeping views of Biscayne Bay, cementing its place as the tower’s crown jewel.
